Comme partout ailleurs, voici quelques règles élémentaires à respecter si tu viens surfer à Ericeira:Lorsque tu atteins le line up, veille à ce que les personnes arrivées avant toi aient les vagues du premier set. Ton tour arrivera sur le prochain set. Ensuite, assure-toi que chacun prenne des vagues tour à tour. Si tu ne taxes pas les autres surfeurs, ceux-ci ne te taxeront pas non plus. N’est-ce pas le pire sentiment que de perdre ta vague parce que quelqu’un se trouve dans le chemin? Afin de ne pas provoquer toi-même cette situation, rappelle-toi de toujours revenir au pic par le(s) côté(s). Si tout le monde suit cette règle, personne ne sera jamais dans le chemin de personne. Toutes les plages d’Ericeira sont entourées de rochers. Tu peux donc facilement te faire emporter vers ceux-ci. Pour ne pas être surpris, check bien le vent et les courants en arrivant sur la plage. Le plus souvent, ils vont ensemble.
Les spots d’Ericeira fonctionnent au mieux lorsque les conditions sont glassy (pas de vent) et/ou offshore (vent d’est). Pour connaître le vent et les autres conditions météos, utilize Windguru Ericeira. Comme la qualité de certaines vagues dépend fortement des marées, il est important d’en connaître l’horaire et les coefficients. Informe-toi à ce sujet sur Magicseaweed. Si tu débutes, nous te conseillons de venir à Ericeira entre mai et fin août. Pour les surfeurs expérimentés, la meilleure saison s’étend généralement de septembre à décembre.
Ericeira a beaucoup de vagues de classe mondiale, et ce, pour différents niveaux de surfeurs. Si tu es expérimenté, tu peux y surfer tous les types de vagues: reef, point et beach breaks. Si tu manques encore un peu d’expérience, essaie d’éviter les reef et point breaks. Concentre-toi plutôt sur les beach breaks, comme Foz do Lizandro ou São Julião. Nous te donnons ce conseil pour deux raisons : premièrement, tu risquerais de te blesser sur les rochers et, deuxièmement, les nombreux bons surfeurs au line up réduiraient tes chances de prendre des vagues. Idéalement, essaie de te trouver un coin sur la plage avec moins de monde: au moins tu es entouré, au plus tu prends des vagues et au plus vite tu progresses. Réserver une place dans un surfcamp ou prendre des cours dans une école de surf est une bonne idée. Ericeira a beaucoup de surfcamps et d’écoles, assure-toi juste qu’ils aient une licence pour enseigner et que les profs sachent surfer! Bifana or Prego is the Portuguese hamburger and essential for a hungry surfers stomach. You get them everywhere, but the best one you find in LEBRE. Don´t forget to upgrade your Bifana with cheese and onions!
The Portuguese coast is famous for it´s world-class seafood. If your pocket is stuffed have dinner at BRISA. These guys have the eye to select the best pieces for you.
If you want to eat seafood without spending much money have a plate of delicate Portuguese shrimps (the smallest ones) at MARISQUEIRA DE RIBAMAR in Ribamar on the way to the surf spot Coxos. There you can get delicious plates of mixed seafood as well, but make sure you bring your friends because they are huge!
What a beautiful sunset, perfect for a glass of wine and tapas with a view to the ocean. MAR DAS LATAS does not just offer local wine, homebrewed beer and fish tapas but also regional and national specialties. It is essential for our environment to support the closest around us: Have a try of the Santana wine produced in Mafra (next to Ericeira), a delicate Azorean tuna can with sweet potato (my favorite!) and beer produced in Ericeira.
Tapas are a very fun way to eat with your friends: order, talk, talk, order more, talk more.. That you can do perfectly in TIK TAPAS especially if your favorite soccer team is playing!
